Evansville Hoo-Hoos 1911 Baseball Club Hoodie — Vintage Team Logo
The Evansville Hoo-Hoos' arrival commanded almost an entire page of the Evansville Sunday Journal-News on April 23, 1911.
The name was chosen in a contest held by the paper.
"With the mention of the name both judges spoke up.
That was the name they had been waiting for. A name with snap and ginger, and yet a name that is thoroughly representative of Evansville. And a name that will travel throughout the United States."
1911 was the only year for the Hoo-Hoos, but they acquired a few nicknames: the Black Cats, the Ebony Kittens, and the Hoos.
